Im not a super woman...
Hi guys, it’s been a week now since we got back from our 3days trip to Idaho, I haven’t really settled everything yet , you know put everything where they should belong and stuff like that because I still have a lot of things to do, like laundry, dusting, vacuum at least 2times a week if possible, folding the laundry, and a lot more, and of course not to forget the most important thing to do in my “to do list” is my mommy duty (that always comes first, no matter what) Im not a superwoman or I don’t have a super powers to do everything all at ones, wish I have, hehehe but that doesn’t work that way. Especially now that my baby boy is already crawling, men he’s all over the place now… Its funny because a lot of my friends has been telling me the same thing, that this is the stage where you have to run after them. Before one’s you put him or lay him down on the same place minutes later he will still be there, or not exactly, kinda…he may be rolling all over the place but its not the same as he is crawling…So now you really have to keep an eye on him…and I think this is really the time to make the house child friendly, although we’ve been planning to do it few months ago and bought some of the safety stuff like plug protectors, door knobs covers, cabinet and drawer latches, furniture corner cushions and who knows what else do we need. But we just doesn’t have the time really.

Great Site for the right price
But anyway, Black Friday (the day after thanks giving) is also a good time to shop, for most of the stores; they really offer a good bargain. I mean it when I said really cheap. But the thing is, I don’t have the time and energy to woke-up at 5am to be in front of the store waiting in line. And not to mention that there’s hundreds of you waiting in line also… good thing if you will be the first in line. But for most cases its not. Well here’s a good news for you there’s a website online call cyber monday . This website let people purchased Black Friday items online without even leaving your house at 4am and wait and in line for hours. So you can still shop the things that you like. So go check them out, click here cyber monday

Lemon Grass can cure cancer?
lemongrass is *tanglad* to a filipino chef who told me grass is good;-)
Subject: * Lemon grass * Bot. Cymbopogon citratus Fam: Gramineae
Known in various languages as: sera; zabalin; takrai; Bai mak nao; serai; sereh; salay; Fresh lemon grass (sereh) fields in Israel become mecca for cancer patients By Allison Kaplan Sommer April 02, 2006 A drink with as little as one gram of lemon grass contains enough citral to prompt cancer cells to commit suicide in the test tube.
Israeli researchers find a way to make cancer cells self-destructBen Gurion University At first, Benny Zabidov, an Israeli agriculturalist who grows greenhouses full of lush spices on a pastoral farm in Kfar Yedidya in the Sharon region, couldn't understand why so many cancer patients from around the country were showing up on his doorstep asking for fresh lemon grass. It turned out that their doctors had sent them. "They had been told to drink eight glasses of hot water with fresh lemongrass steeped in it on the days that they went for their radiation and chemotherapy treatments," Zabidov told ISRAEL21c. "And this is the place you go to in Israel for fresh lemon grass."
It all began when researchers at Ben Gurion University of the Negev discovered last year that the lemon aroma in herbs like lemon grass kills cancer cells in vitro, while leaving healthy cells unharmed. The research team was led by Dr. Rivka Ofir and Prof. Yakov Weinstein, incumbent of the Albert Katz Chair in Cell-Differentiation and Malignant Diseases, from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at BGU. *Citral* is the key component that gives the lemony aroma and taste in several herbal plants such as lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus), melissa (Melissa officinalis) and verbena (Verbena officinalis.) According to Ofir, the study found that citral causes cancer cells to "commit suicide: using apoptosis, a mechanism called programmed cell death."
*A drink with as little as one gram of lemon grass contains enough citral to prompt the cancer cells to commit suicide in the test tube. *The BGU investigators checked the influence of the citral on cancerous cells by adding them to both cancerous cells and normal cells that were grown in a petri dish. The quantity added in the concentrate was equivalent to the amount contained in a cup of regular tea using one gram of lemon herbs in hot water. *While the citral killed the cancerous cells, the normal cells remained unharmed* .
The findings were published in the scientific journal Planta Medica, which highlights research on alternative and herbal remedies. Shortly afterwards, the discovery was featured in the popular Israeli press. Why does it work? Nobody knows for certain, but the BGU scientists have a theory. "In each cell in our body, there is a genetic program which causes programmed cell death. When something goes wrong, the cells divide with no control and become cancer cells.
In normal cells, when the cell discovers that the control system is not operating correctly - for example, when it recognizes that a cell contains faulty genetic material following cell division - it triggers cell death," explains Weinstein. "This research may explain the medical benefit of these herbs." *The success of their research led them to the conclusion that herbs containing citral may be consumed as a preventative measure against certain cancerous cells. *As they learned of the BGU findings in the press, many physicians in Israel began to believe that while the research certainly needed to be explored further, in the meantime it would be advisable for their patients, who were looking for any possible tool to fight their condition, to try to harness the cancer-destroying properties of citral. That's why Zabidov's farm - the only major grower of fresh lemon grass in Israel - has become a pilgrimage destination for these patients.
Luckily, they found themselves in sympathetic hands. Zabidov greets visitors with a large kettle of aromatic lemon grass tea, a plate of cookies, and a supportive attitude. "My father died of cancer, and my wife's sister died young because of cancer," said Zabidov. "So I understand what they are dealing with. And I may not know anything about medicine, but I'm a good listener. And so they tell me about their expensive painful treatments and what they've been through. I would never tell them to stop being treated, but it's great that they are exploring alternatives and drinking the lemon grass tea as well." Zabidov knew from a young age that agriculture was his calling. At age 14, he enrolled in the Kfar Hayarok Agricultural high school. After his army service, he joined an idealistic group which headed south, in the Arava desert region, to found a new moshav (agricultural settlement) called Tsofar.
"We were very successful; we raised fruits and vegetables, and," he notes with a smile, "We raised some very nice children." On a trip to Europe in the mid-80s, he began to become interested in herbs. Israel , at the time, was nothing like the trend-conscious cuisine-oriented country it is today, and the only spices being grown commercially were basics like parsley, dill, and coriander. Wandering in the Paris market, looking at the variety of herbs and spices, Zabidov realized that there was a great export potential in this niche. He brought samples back home with him, "which was technically illegal," he says with a guilty smile, to see how they would grow in his desert greenhouses. Soon, he was growing basil, oregano, tarragon, chives, sage, marjoram and melissa, and mint just to name a few.
His business began to outgrow his desert facilities, and so he decided to move north, settling in the moshav of Kfar Yedidya, an hour and a half north of Tel Aviv. He is now selling "several hundred kilos" of lemon grass per week, and has signed with a distributor to package and put it in health food stores. Zabidov has taken it upon himself to learn more about the properties of citral, and help his customers learn more, and has invited medical experts to his farm to give lectures about how the citral works and why.
He also felt a responsibility to know what to tell his customers about its use. "When I realized what was happening, I picked up the phone and called Dr. Weinstein at Ben-Gurion University , because these people were asking me exactly the best way to consume the citral. He said to put the loose grass in hot water, and drink about eight glasses each day." Zabidov is pleased by the findings, not simply because it means business for his farm, but because it might influence his ownhealth. Even before the news of its benefits were demonstrated, he and his family had been drinking lemon grass in hot water for years, "just because it tastes good."

It was a fun friday...
Hi guys, yesterday was Friday, its my hubby’s day off from work, well according to him it was his Saturday yesterday and today Saturday was his Sunday... That’s what usually happened when you have a new work schedule, but for us its ok, it will only takes a little bit of adjustments and were good to go... So yesterday we went to California, I wasn’t exactly sure where it was, as far as i know its 1hour and a half away from Susanville, for short its about 3hours away from us. Its a pretty long drive ha? But its worth the drive because we went to what they called the subway cave, its actually pretty neat inside, ive never been to a cave before thats why i was so excited about it, and its not the kind of cave where you see on Television where theirs bat and pretty weird animals, its nothing like that. I was worried with my little one at first because i thought he's actually going to cry because its too dark and a little bit chilly inside, good thing he was amazed with the flashlights so he was kind of entertained with that. Out next stop was lunch of course because its already 2pm when we pretty much left the place. But after that, we head to our next destinations now and its the Burney falls, men, the falls was pretty awesome, we really enjoyed it a lot, my baby Christian was also having fun, i thought he will start to get fuzzy but he did really well and just so excited about it. On the other hand, my mother in-law who drives across country (North Carolina) was also having so much fun, though she’s having a hard time with her knees because she had a bad knees but she surely had a great time also. Then our final stop for the day was the lake, Burney Lake, we didn’t stayed long because its getting late and its time to go home, don’t forget were still 3hours away from home... but like what i said its worth the drive, and we all had a great time. click here to see more photos www.meg915.blogspot.com . Tips from the Expert
The renowned pediatrician and author of the Happiest baby on the block (Bantam, 2005) recommends these five simple steps for calming a newborn.
Swaddling- Use a light blanket to make a “baby burrito”.
Side position – Lay baby on her side so she’s facing you, and then draw her close an cradle her head with your top arm.
Shushing sounds- The womb was a noisy place, so baby will find the sound of white noise of your shushing comforting.
Swinging- Use your arms or a baby swing.
Sucking- There’s a reason why binkies are truly beloved

Beat the heat
Tame rising heating cost with this 3-point plan.
LOWER THE HEAT- by 10 degrees before going to bed, or invest in a programmable thermostat that will do this for you automatically. The reward: a savings of 10 to 15 percent in your heating bill.
CHECK YOUR FURNACE- Filters at least once a month, and replace them if they're dirty. A dirty filter makes a furnace less efficient, meaning it has to work harder (and use more energy) to produce heat.
USE YOUR FIREPLACE SPARINGLY- Despite their warming appearance, fireplace actually sucks the heat out of a room. Solutions: invest in a glass doors that enclose the fireplace. That way, you can enjoy the flickering flames without feeling the chill of lost heat and money.

Green house
WEATHER STRIP- All cracks and opening around the windows and doors leading to the outside. Stopping these little drafts could save you 10percent on your heating and cooling bills.
DO MULTIPLE LOADS OF LAUNDRY- One after another. The dryer stays warm, so you use less energy
TURN OFF LIGHTS AND APPLIANCES- When you leave a room. For instance, if your computer has a sleep function, use it. This saves 70percent more energy than a traditional screensaver.
STOCK YOUR FRIDGE- It takes energy to cool an empty fridge.
Debt in todays economy!
Anyway, few months later, almost a year to be exact as we were driving within our development we managed to stopped by at our old house, just curious about the updates that the new owners have made already especially at the front and the front lawn. To our surprised we saw a “For Sale” sign already by the bank , so in other words its in foreclosure, and not only that, there was also a big sign at the window porch about the asking priced. And its 40% less to what they originally paid for. So we thought that they only bought the property for investment and hoping that the value of the property would still go up and at the end they really couldn’t afford to pay for it monthly fee. Because according to our old neighbors they didn’t really lived there and ever since they took over the house they’ve been doing a lot of changes inside. We felt bad for the people who bought the house though, but that’s just the reality in today’s economy. debt advice

Thanks honey...
So today mothers day, hubby’s at work so me, Christian and my mother in law just stayed home just kind of chilling out. To my surprised when hubby got home from worked he hand me a mothers day card which is so nice and a digital picture frame which I really didn’t expect. It’s funny because I’m actually thinking of giving him a digital frame also for father’s day where he can put it on his table at work. So now, I may have to think of something else again on what to give him for father’s day… Anyway that’s still going to be on the 3rd Sunday of June so I still have plenty of time to think about it…

Cheers to all the mommys
Jerlalou http://www.noypeeto.net/2008/05/cheers-to-all-mothers.html tagged me this nice cheers to all mothers, mama's, nanay's thoughts.
I can’t believe that mother’s day is going to be next week already May 11. And Im so excited for this will be the first time we will be celebrating mothers day in the true sense meaning of the word because I am one now…Although I don’t believed in celebrating mothers day on the month of May alone, instead everyday should be a mothers day, or fathers day just like Valentines day or Christmas day, I think everyday should be a Valentines day, every day should be the day that you show somebody how much you love and appreciate them, just like mothers day.
I am a new parent, a mom to my wonderful 7months old baby boy. Even though we had a pretty rough start to begin with, I knew that being a mother is the kind of job that I’ve always wanted right from the start. That’s why when we got pregnant we were so thrilled, I couldn’t believed it that Im going to give life to this tiny little thing growing inside of me. Pregnancy wasn’t really easy for me, I had a lot of bad days to start with, But now, looking back, I wouldn’t trade what had happened to me for anything…Motherhood may be the toughest job there is, but im in for the challenged and im loving every minute of it. So to our little sprout Christian, we know you will not always be a baby but for me, you will always be my peanut. And I will never changed anything from the past, for without it , we may not have you, our pride and joy our little peanut…We want you to always remember that no matter what, mama and daddy will always be here for you, and that were always thankful to the good Lord for giving us our little bundle of joy and to that we love you so much.
I'm sharing this to my friends... feel free to grab...

Busy bee...
I have been planning and budgeting for my son’s first birthday party which will be held in the Philippines sometime this year. I wanted it to be a nice gatherings with close friends and relatives present without spending to much money on it, you know nowadays you have to be practical that’s why I’m also thankful to some of my former officemate's for helping me put everything together that’s why yesterday Saturday, we stopped by at the Party Place in Reno, I just wanted to see the place and also get an idea about party themes and party stuff like wall decorations, banners, loot bags, party popper and stuff like that. I still have a few more months to go, but knowing me, I don’t want to rush everything; I want to take it slowly but surely. Anyway will just keep you updated what’s going to happen next…

Be very very careful...
what the spider looks like!
It's springtime & cleanup is going on. Be careful where you put your hands. They like dark spaces & woodpiles. Also areas in the attic.................. This guy was bitten by a Brown Recluse spider.
look at the last one - it is a picture of the spider itself.
Day 6 The Brown Recluse Spider is the most dangerous spider
that we have in the USA
Day 9 A person can die from it's bite We all should know what the spider looks like
Day 10 Send this around to people you love, because it is almost summertime.
People will be digging around, doing yard work, spring cleaning, and sometimes in their attics. The Dangerous Brown Recluse Spider Please be careful.
Spider bites are dangerous and can have permanent and highly
negative consequences. They like the darkness and tend to live in
storage sheds or attics or other areas that might not be
frequented by people or light. If you have a need to be in your attic,
go up there and turn on a light and leave it on for about
30 minutes before you go in to do your work!
